An online AA meeting for the end of the day and the next right thing.
About TAD
Trudging After Dark is an online Alcoholics Anonymous group that meets every night from 9:00 to 10:00 PM Eastern.
We gather at the end of the day to share experience, strength, and hope with other alcoholics who are trying to stay sober one day at a time.
Everyone is welcome here. If you are new, coming back, counting days, feeling close to a drink, looking for a sponsor, or just trying to get through the night without making things worse, there is a seat for you. We keep our focus on AA’s singleness of purpose: recovery from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Our group tries to keep things simple: show up, listen, share honestly, respect anonymity, avoid crosstalk and advice-giving, and help where we can. We use a timer so everyone has a chance to share, and we ask members to be mindful of the room, the newcomer, and the alcoholic who may be sitting quietly on the edge of a drink.
We also believe recovery does not require us to become spiritual cement blocks. In this group, we follow Rule 62 from Tradition Four in the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions: “Don’t take yourself too damn seriously.” We take sobriety seriously. We take service seriously. We take the hand of AA seriously. Ourselves? That part can usually stand a little deflation.
After the meeting, we offer a parking lot for continued connection, especially for newcomers or anyone who needs shared experience, strength, and hope. Asking for help is welcome here. Service is welcome here. Honest sharing is welcome here. None of us does this thing alone, and Trudging After Dark exists to keep that hand of AA available when the day gets long and the night starts talking.
New to AA?
You are welcome here.
You do not need to know what to say, how the meeting works, or whether AA is “for you” before you show up. If this is your first meeting, your first meeting back, or your first time at Trudging After Dark, we are glad you’re here.
You are welcome to simply listen. If you have had a drink in the last 24 hours, we ask that you refrain from sharing during the meeting and stay to listen. After the meeting, we offer a parking lot where you can connect with members and hear more shared experience, strength, and hope.
AA has no dues or fees. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. We keep the focus on alcoholism, avoid crosstalk and advice-giving, respect anonymity, and try to make space for everyone who needs a sober place to land.
